Every household operates around the preferences of the people who live there. Those preferences shape everything from room presentation and meal service to transportation, privacy, communication, and the way staff move through the home. For a household manager, understanding those preferences is only the beginning. The management work begins when those preferences are translated into standards the household team can consistently deliver.
A well-developed SOP identifies the expected result, assigns responsibility, establishes timing, outlines the required process, and includes the resources or reference material needed to support consistent execution. It creates continuity across staff and gives the household a documented way to preserve service expectations over time.
We’ve taken a deep dive into how a preference becomes a standard in our first Professional Development Series lecture. It includes a video lecture and sets of templates to develop SOP’s for your property.
